This Privacy Policy explains what information Shops Plus collects, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. It covers shops.plus and the services on it — our beauty and wellness directory, our member portal, our forms, and the pages about our salon suites.

The short version

  • Our directory lists beauty and wellness businesses, and much of it was compiled from publicly available sources — not submitted to us by those businesses.
  • The insights on a listing page are produced by analysing public reviews in aggregate. We do not publish review text or reviewer names.
  • We collect personal information mainly when you give it to us — a form, an account, a claimed listing.
  • We use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, and a business can ask us to correct or remove its listing.

This summary is for orientation only — the sections below govern.

1. Who we are

Shops Plus operates the shops.plus website, an online directory of beauty, wellness, and aesthetic professionals in Washington State, and is developing private salon suites in Edmonds, Washington. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “Shops Plus” refer to that business. You can reach us about privacy at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Forms. When you join our founding list, contact us, request a service recommendation, or refer a professional, we collect what that form asks for — typically name, email address, phone number, business type, and whatever you write in a message field.
  • Accounts. If you register, we collect your username, email address, password (stored hashed, never in readable form), and anything you add to your profile, including a profile photo.
  • Claimed listings. If you claim a business listing, we collect the information you submit to verify your connection to that business, plus everything you then publish on the listing — description, services and pricing, hours, logo, photos, booking and social links, and your public response to reviews.
  • Correspondence. If you email us or reply to one of our messages, we keep that correspondence.

2.2 Business listing information we compile

Most listings in our directory were not submitted by the business. We compiled them from publicly available sources, including public business profiles and mapping services. This information is business contact information, not personal information about a consumer, and typically includes:

  • business name, category, address, service area, phone number, and website;
  • publicly displayed hours, services, and photos;
  • publicly displayed star rating and review count;
  • aggregate themes derived from public reviews (see section 3).

Where a listing includes the name of an individual practitioner — for example a sole proprietor whose business is their own name, or a staff member frequently named in public reviews — that name may constitute personal information. If you are that person, you may ask us to remove it under section 7.

2.3 Information collected automatically

  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and interactions such as clicking a call-to-action.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Used for analytics, for keeping you signed in, for security, and for remembering preferences. See section 8.
  • Server logs. Our hosting and security providers record IP addresses and request details to operate and protect the site.

2.4 What we do not collect

We do not ask for and do not want government identification numbers, financial account numbers, or health information. Please do not send us health details about yourself or anyone else — including in a message field, a review response, or a listing description.

3. How review-derived insights work

Some listings display insights such as what a business is known for, who it may suit, recurring themes, and potential considerations. You should understand how these are produced:

  • They are generated by automated analysis of publicly available reviews in aggregate, using AI-assisted summarisation.
  • We do not publish verbatim review text and we do not publish reviewer names or identifying details about reviewers.
  • They describe patterns across many reviews. They are not a verified assessment of a business, and they are not a statement of fact about any individual visit.
  • They are independent of the business. A business owner cannot edit them, and cannot pay to alter, hide, or remove them. Paid features on our directory are strictly additive — photos, a description, services, a booking link, a response to reviews.

If a business believes an insight is materially inaccurate, it may write to us under section 7 and we will review it. We may correct, re-analyse, or remove an insight. We will not remove one simply because it is unflattering.

4. How we use information

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the directory and the site.
  • To respond to your enquiries and to contact you about the founding list, suite availability, and our opening.
  • To create and manage accounts, and to verify and manage listing claims.
  • To send you information you asked for. Where required, we will ask your consent first, and every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe.
  • To understand site usage in aggregate so we can improve it.
  • To protect the site against fraud, abuse, scraping, and security threats.
  • To comply with law and to establish or defend legal claims.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers who operate the site on our behalf — hosting, email delivery, form processing, analytics, and security — and who are permitted to use it only to provide those services to us.
  • Publicly, when you publish it. Anything you put on a public listing or public profile — including a response to reviews — is visible to anyone.
  • Referrals you make. If you refer a professional to us, we use the contact details you provide to contact that person, and we will tell them who referred them.
  • Legal reasons — to comply with law or valid legal process, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, the public, or us.
  • Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction.

6. Third-party services on our pages

Some features are provided by third parties, which may receive information about your visit and are governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Google Maps — embedded maps on location and listing pages.
  • Google Analytics — usage measurement.
  • Instagram — where a business has connected a feed to its listing.
  • Payment processors — if and when we accept payment online, card details are handled by the processor and are not stored by us.

Listings and articles also link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

7. Business listings: correction, claiming, and removal

If your business appears in our directory and you did not submit it, you have these options at no cost:

  • Claim it and correct or complete the information yourself.
  • Ask us to correct it by writing to [email protected] with the listing name and what is wrong.
  • Ask us to remove it entirely. Write to the same address from an email address associated with the business, or otherwise show that you are authorised to act for it. We will remove the listing and confirm when it is done.

We do not charge for removal, and we will not ask you to buy anything to have a listing corrected or taken down.

8. Cookies and analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the site and keep you signed in, and analytics cookies to measure usage. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site. Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of any sharing of your information for targeted advertising.

9. Washington consumer health data

Our directory includes categories such as medical aesthetics, longevity, hormone and weight-management services, and other wellness care. Washington’s My Health My Data Act treats some information that links a person to their health or to their search for health services as consumer health data, which carries additional protections.

  • We do not knowingly collect consumer health data, and we do not ask you to tell us about your health or the care you are seeking.
  • We do not sell consumer health data. We do not use it for targeted advertising.
  • Browsing our directory does not require an account, and you can browse without telling us anything about yourself.
  • If you believe we hold consumer health data about you, you may ask us to confirm it, tell you who we shared it with, and delete it, by writing to [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • correct information that is inaccurate;
  • delete information we hold about you;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising — we do not do either;
  • withdraw consent where we relied on it;
  • be free from discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time the applicable law allows. If we decline a request, we will tell you why and how to appeal.

11. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, and then for as long as we reasonably need it to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution obligations. Founding-list and enquiry records are kept while our pre-opening process is running and for a reasonable period after. Account and listing information is kept while the account or listing is active. You can ask us to delete your information sooner under section 10.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and hashed passwords. No website can promise perfect security, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorised access will never occur.

13. Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services change or as the law requires. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top. If the change is significant, we will make that clear on the site.

15. Contact us

Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy: [email protected]. If you are contacting us about a specific listing, please include the business name so we can find it quickly.
